Bio
Julia is a student assistant at the IEO. After her bachelor's degree in Molecular Biomedicine, where she worked under the supervision of Dr. Niklas Klümper in the urological research laboratory of the Department of Urology and Pediatric Urology at the University Hospital Bonn on epigenetic modifiers and their impact on immunotherapy response in urothelial carcinoma, she joined the Hölzel group in August 2020. In October 2021, coinciding with the start of her master's degree in Molecular Biomedicine at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, she became a scholarship holder of the Klaus Murmann Study Support Program, which supports particularly capable and willing students and doctoral candidates in order to promote the next generation of responsible specialists and managers. Since March 2021, she is part of Dr. Niklas Klümper's BONFOR-funded junior research group, who is investigating predictive biomarkers for immunotherapy and tumor microenvironment composition in renal cell carcinoma and urothelial carcinoma. Julia is currently working on her master's thesis, which focuses on understanding resistance mechanisms to antibody-drug conjugates in urothelial carcinomas.
