Julia Meßmer

Julia obtained her PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) in Experimental Neurooncology from the University of Heidelberg in 2022. During her PhD project in the research group of Frank Winkler at the German Cancer Research Center she studied T cell infiltration to melanoma brain metastases using intravital two-photon microscopy. She joined the Hölzel lab in late 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher, where she investigates the kinetics and underlying mechanisms of melanoma plasticity under therapeutic pressure. For this she develops novel approaches that allow tracking of tumor cell populations and tumor progression in melanoma models over time. Her research aims to contribute to a better understanding and prevention of therapy resistance of melanoma.
