Bio

Lea received her medical degree from the University of Bonn in 2020. Under the supervision of Prof. Heneka, she previously performed her MD thesis focussing on immunostimulation of microglia in Alzheimer’s Disease at the Clinic for Neurodegenerative Diseases and Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Bonn. Subsequently, she started working as a resident in neuropathology and became part of a cooperation with the Institute for Experimental Oncology. In 2022 she joined the Hölzel Lab as a post-doctoral researcher supported by the BONFOR Gerok fellowship. Lea now aims to combine her knowledge on neuroinflammation and neuropathology to investigate tumor microenvironment in adult glioblastoma (CNS WHO grade 4), IDH-wildtype. Her research focuses on the mapping of tumor associated microglia and macrophages in the heterogenous tumor landscape and their influence on tumor angiogenesis.
