Since completing her Bachelor of Biotechnology with Honours from the University of Queensland, Michelle has worked as a research assistant in the cancer research labs of Prof. Ian Frazer at the University of Queensland Diamantina Institute (UQDI) and Prof. Mark Smyth in QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Australia, where she acquired various immunological techniques such as multi-parameter flow cytometry and mouse handling procedures such as skin grafting. In 2019, Michelle moved to Germany to join Prof. Hölzel’s lab and her research focus is on CRISPR gene editing of primary immune cells and melanoma cell lines for downstream adoptive cell transfer (ACT) immunotherapy in murine models. Outside of work, she likes art, good food and traveling.
