Nissrin Alachkar

Nissrin obtained her Masters in Mathematics at the University of Manchester (UoM), then did a PhD in Mathematical biology also at UoM. During her PhD, she focused on understanding heterogeneity of gene expression in the innate immune system through mathematical modelling and statistical analysis of single-cell experimental data. She started her first post-doctoral position in the Thurley group in 2023, where she is working on modelling the complex dynamical interplay between cancer and immune cells, with a particular focus on T cell exhaustion. In her free time, she enjoys powerlifting, going on walks in nature, exploring new places and reading.
