Bio

Sebastian joined the Hölzel Lab in April 2022 to conduct his Bachelor thesis as part of his BSc in „Molecular Biomedicine at the University Bonn. He continued working on the project during his Master’s studies in Immunobiology“, both as a student assistant and later for his Master’s thesis. His work focused on developing a novel fluorescent microscopy multiplexing pipeline that enables simultaneous non-iterative staining of up to 10 markers. During internships at the German Aerospace Centre and Harvard Medical School, he contributed to the development and optimization of protocols for live-cell structured illumination microscopy (SIM) under microgravity, as well as full-organ 3D imaging using light-sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM/SPIM). His current PhD project centers on developing an end-to-end imaging workflow to analyze the spatial distribution of markers associated with vascular heterogeneity in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).
