Bio

Tobias Bald, PhD, is Professor of Tumorimmunobiology at the Institute of experimental Oncology at the University Hospital Bonn, Germany. In 2015, he received his PhD from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bonn, Germany with highest honours for his work on the role of inflammatory responses in melanoma progression and for the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy. After being awarded a prestigious EMBO-long term Fellowship he joined the lab of Prof. Mark Smyth at the Queensland Institute for Medical Research, Brisbane, Australia in 2016. In 2018, Tobias Bald was awarded an early career fellowship which allowed him to establish a junior group to study the impact of the Nectin-network for the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy. In 2020, he became a member of the DFG cluster of excellence ImmunoSensation and established the laboratory for Tumor Immunobiology at the University Hospital Bonn. His scientific focus is to understand the regulation of tumor-infiltrating immune cells to develop innovative therapies for the treatment of cancer.
